A sloppy clearance by Ecuadorian goal keeper gifted Ibrahim Said' the chance to open the score line for Nigeria, and he made no mistake in puting his name in the score sheet. The Golden Eaglet of Nigeria took the lead just five minutes into the game but barely five minutes later they couldn't hold on to their lead as the South American drew level after the Golden Eaglet goal keeper , Daniel Jinnadu bundled the ball into his own net due to pressure .
After a difficult first group match with Hungary which saw the Golden Eaglet of Nigeria came from behind to beat Hungary 4-2. They knew heading into the game with Ecuador, they face a tougher opposition.
Ecuador were awarded a penalty in the second half due to a foul committed by Charles Etim, and Johan Mina converted the resultant kick for Ecuador and Ecuador were leading 2-1.
The Golden Eaglet begin to press for an equalizer but it didn't come sooner. It was in the 85 and 89 minutes when the two goals that won the match came once again from the hero and man -of- the- match 'Ibrahim Said' who had earlier open the score line, this time he scored two superb goals that saw Nigeria triumph in the five goal thriller and the boys came from behind to lead 3-2 .
With Said' hatrick, Nigeria now sit top of Group B with six point while Ecuador are second with three point.
With this win , the Golden Eaglet have now secured an early qualification into the round of 16.
