... says APC doesn’t need to campaign in area

The Chairman of Etinan Local Government Council, Mr. Uko Umoh, has declared that Governor Umo Eno does not need to campaign in the area, describing the locality as politically consistent and ready to deliver overwhelming support for the governor.

Speaking during the inauguration of the Etinan Chapter of the Arise With Renewed Hope Initiative Executive and Advisory Committees, held at the Local Government Council Hall on Wednesday, Umoh said Etinan is known for its political consistency, adding that once the people adopt a candidate, they back such a candidate with massive votes.

“Our Governor does not need to campaign in Etinan. This is the only LGA that began publicising the Arise With Renewed Hope Initiative even before this visit. We are ready to deliver our governor. The people are happy because they have regained their lost glory, thanks to various life-touching projects spread across the wards, including the biggest terminus in the state, with buses ready to be distributed,” Umoh said, boasting that the council area would deliver no fewer than 40,000 votes for Governor Eno whenever the election comes.

In his remarks, the President-General of the Arise With Renewed Hope Initiative, Engr. Uwem Okoko, said the visit was primarily for the inauguration, expressing confidence that the people of Etinan appreciate the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project initiated by President Bola Tinubu.

“Today, we came for the inauguration. I know you are grateful to the President for the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road and for supporting the Senate President to continue his service in the Senate,” Okoko said.

Earlier, in his tone-setting remarks, the Deputy Coordinator of the Initiative, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Uko, said the group came as forerunners of three key leaders: President Bola Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Governor Umo Eno, whom he described as a unifying figure who has introduced a bottom-to-top approach to governance in Akwa Ibom State.

“We are not coming here to play politics in Etinan because we know that Etinan is politically conscious, having produced the late Obong Akpan Isemin, a former governor of the state,” Uko added.

Goodwill messages were presented by stakeholders and political leaders in the area, including Engr. Enobong Billy Etuk; former Vice Chairman of the LGA, Mrs. Imaobong Collins; APC Chapter Chairman, Comrade Isreal Tommey; Archbishop Andrew Uwanta; Isantim Kenneth Okon; the member representing Etinan Federal Constituency, Obong Paul Ekpo; Mr. Uwakmfon Michael; and the Special Assistant to the Governor on Persons with Disabilities, Mr. Ubong Ikpe.

The high point of the event was the inauguration of the Etinan coordinating committee, with Hon. Uko Umoh as Coordinator, Imaobong Collins as Deputy Coordinator, and Hon. Imoh Asangausung as Secretary, while the advisory committee has Archbishop Andrew Uwanta as Chairman, with Prince Ibarra Eno as Secretary.
