A black American lady who recently graduated with PhD degrees from American University has officially dedicated her degrees to all those living in Closet Racism and all those who have been murdered at the hands of police biasly because of their skin color in the U.S.
The lady who is by name Korie A. G posted this on her LinkedIn page, and she is quoted saying ;
" This PhD degree is not for me, this degree is for my ancestors who were taken from Nigeria, Benin and Togo and forced into life of bondage in America.
Ths degree is for my forefathers and foremothers enslaved in Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, Tennessee and Virginia that worked the cotton, sugar and tobacco plantation of the south.
This degree is for my grandparents who lived through juim Crow, race riot, massacres and harassment from those who hated them just because of the color of their skin.
This degree is for my military parents, who dealt with racism and discrimination while choosing to serve our country for over 20+ years a piece.
This degree is for my siblings, who I look up to and look up to me as we live in a time of closeted Racism, unconscious bias, macro/microaggression and Police brutality while being black in America.
Last but certainly not least, this degree is for George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmed Arbery, Sandra Bland, Eric Garner, Freddie Gray, Michael Brown and others who have been senselessly murdered at the hands of police here in the U.S
